Saving for a rainy day can be the safety net between you and bankruptcy The minimum cash reserve any family should have is 3 months. This amount will vary from family to family but should cover the cost of rent/mortgage, food, insurance and utilities. Until you have built up a cash reserve of 3 month of living expense you should not be making many discretionary purchases. |
